About Me

After 20 years of working in government defense finance, William “Bill” Thomas is excited to shift gears and serve his community by bringing his distinct expertise to the CBTx team.

“’Banking Texas Style’ to me is our renowned customer service delivered with Texas pride, resilience, friendliness, and charm,” he said. “We combine the small-town customer relationship with the Texas-sized service, to boot. Our digital banking capabilities are top notch, and our customer service, from phone calls and drive-through banking to in-person consumer and commercial loans, stands second-to-none.”

Bill earned a BA in communications with an emphasis on public relations from Stephen F. Austin State University, and he has in-depth experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and programmatic execution to meet/and or exceed targeted Profit and Loss (P&L) positions. As part of his commitment to constant growth, he is studying Spanish.

Bill’s devotion to community banking stems from his love for small-town life, and he’s driven by the opportunity to help his neighbors.

“The people make our community, and our community is wonderful,” he said. “I really cherish the ability to help, in however small a way, to provide a smile or a brief moment of light in a customer’s day.

“To say my family represents small town Texas would be an understatement. I was born and raised in Greenville. My father was the Hunt County District Attorney before eventually retiring as a judge. I met my wife, Jennifer, in Nacogdoches while attending SFA, but she didn’t realize her love and obsession with me until we were reacquainted in Fort Worth post-college. After having three amazing boys (Duncan, Oliver, & Harrison), we decided we wanted more space and a small town, which led us to settle in Lone Oak. My oldest brother, Greg, is an eye doctor in Longview, my second oldest brother, Andrew, is a lawyer in Royse City, my parents live in Greenville, and my wife’s entire family lives in Nacogdoches.”

Bill and his wife attend Family Fellowship in Greenville. He is the treasurer for the Lone Oak Youth Sports Association (LOYSA), the treasurer for the PRISM Soccer League and a member of Ducks Unlimited.
