About Me

After more than 40 years in the banking industry, Elizabeth Sowell has taken the reins in San Augustine, bringing vast knowledge, a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic to the community she loves.

“In 2000, I left my position as an administrative assistant in the international department of Chase Bank and moved my family to San Augustine to be near my parents,” Sowell said. Since joining the CBTx team in 2023, she has embraced Banking Texas Style, focusing on “building strong relationships with our customers, putting their needs first and striving to exceed their expectations at every opportunity.”

Sowell was born in Houston and attended San Jacinto College. She began her banking career in high school.

“While working as a research clerk at a local bank as a VOE student my senior year in high school, I met the only female lender at the bank, and her name was Karen Roberts,” Sowell said. “During that time, she became my mentor and encouraged me to accept a full-time position after graduation. I have held a variety of positions in the banking industry since that time, such as a customer service rep, teller, new accounts rep, administrative assistant, loan assistant, mortgage processor, assistant manager and branch manager.”

Sowell has two children, a daughter, Madison, and a son, Mason, who live and work in the community, and a Cavapoo puppy named Charlotte. She is a member and former officer of the San Augustine Women’s Service League.
