About Me

For Martha Tyer, Banking Texas Style is all about serving the community.

“This is a very close-knit community,” she said. “You know most of the people in town and have some kind of relationship with them. I am a people person and love working with the customers to help them achieve their dreams.”

Martha began her banking career in 1980. She explored other avenues and returned to the industry in 1994, when she began working for Elkhart State Bank. She worked her way up from bookkeeping to teller to new accounts, loans, compliance, loan assistant and now banking officer. When CBTx acquired the Elkhart branch in 2015, Martha joined the Banking Texas Style family.

“We are fortunate to have some of the best customers,” she said. “I really enjoy working with my older ones because they know we are here to help, even if it is something they just need to talk about. The most rewarding part of my job is working with the customers and making a relationship with them.”

Martha was born in Landstuhl, Germany. Her father was an American soldier, and her mother is German. They came to the U.S. when she was 2 and moved around Texas before finally settling in Palestine. She graduated from Westwood High School and Trinity Valley Community College. She and her husband, Randy, are members of Calvary Baptist Church in Palestine. Martha also enjoys her involvement with the Palestine Chamber of Commerce.

Fun Facts

What was the first job you ever had?

My first job was a summer job in high school at Jack in the Box.

Who would you consider to be your hero?

I have several but if I had to pick it is my mom. She left Germany and all her family to come to the states and never got to go back. But my dad would send for my Oma to come stay with us in the summer as often as we could. There were 4 of us kids and my mom would not leave us to go visit. Luckily all of her sisters made it over for a visit except one.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

Going on trips and visiting our family.

What’s your favorite food?

Mexican.

What’s your favorite movie?

I like the Hallmark Channel and HGTV.
