For Denise Dennis, Banking Texas Style means serving a community she dearly loves.

“I want my customers to walk away from their experience with me feeling that I have their best interest at heart, and that they are family – because they are,” she said. “That’s what sets CBTx apart: we genuinely care about our customers and their needs.”

Denise joined the CBTx team in 2001 as a part-time teller at the Kennard Banking Center. She worked her way up to full-time teller, then CSR/loan assistant, before becoming Administrative Assistant for Brian Cyr, Angelina County market president. She’s now back in Kennard, handling consumer/real estate/commercial lending , and she’s excited about getting back to some of her favorite customers.

“Kennard has welcomed me back to the community with open arms,” Denise said. “I lived here for 15 years and was in Lufkin for 10, but it has been like I never left.”

Originally from Beaumont, Denise grew up in Silsbee. She has served on the Kennard ISD School Board, the Angelina County Heart Alliance and the Board of the Angelina Ladies Lions Club, and she has been active in the Houston County Chamber of Commerce.

Denise has three children, six grandchildren, two dogs and a cat. She enjoys being outdoors, hunting, riding horses and spending time with her grandbabies.

What was your first job?

Babysitting. I have worked since I was 12 years old and I started supporting myself at the age of 17.

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?

Clay Walker, Tracy Byrd and Mark Chestnut, but before they were famous.

What book has had the biggest impact on you?

To Kill A Mockingbird

Horseback riding with friends
