About Me

Javier Rubio has been “Banking Texas Style” since childhood, and now he’s passionate about sharing it with his community.

“Growing up in Nacogdoches, I always knew I wanted to stay ‘home,’ even after college,” Rubio said. “I remember opening my first checking account as a teenager with Commercial Bank and somehow knowing at that time that this is where I wanted to work.”

After graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance, Rubio joined the team at CBTx and began working his way up the ladder. He has since earned a Master’s degree in accounting, and he now works in mortgage and commercial lending at The Starr branch at the corner of Starr and University right across from Stephen F. Austin’s campus.

Since CBTx has been such an integral part of his life for so long, Rubio takes the concept of “Banking Texas Style” personally.

“’Banking Texas Style’ to me means establishing, investing in and building relationships within our community,” Rubio said. “’‘Banking Texas Style’ extends far past opening a deposit account or providing a loan. We don’t see our customers as just business, but rather as family that we go to church with or have kids that play sports together.”

Rubio was born in Mexico, but grew up in East Texas. He has three children and a golden retriever.
