About Me
Helping his neighbors, growing his community, getting to know his customers on a personal level – there’s a lot Brian Cyr considers rewarding about working for CBTx.
Then there’s that time he helped Tony Romo kick off his career. Cyr: “About 15 years ago I was running our Banking Center in Kennard and I had some customers from Crockett who needed a small loan to help send their grandson to a football camp. Thinking I was sending a little kid to a youth football camp, I lent them the money. About two months later I received a letter in the mail from Tony Romo thanking me for giving his grandparents the money to get him to the Dallas Cowboy football camp. He said it went well and if the Cowboys keep four quarterbacks this year he might make the team, but if they only keep three he might get on somewhere else. As we now know, Dallas kept four quarterbacks.”
It’s not every day he gets to help a young man make an NFL roster, but putting in the work to help his customers is always part of the game plan for Cyr. “We make sure our customers have a great experience so they go tell everyone they know that CBTx is the best bank to handle their financial needs,” Cyr said. “A big part of that is not making our customers wait, giving them quick credit responses and treating every one fairly and honestly.”
A native of Bristol, Connecticut, Brian fell in love with Texas after visiting his aunt and uncle in Kennard. He went to work at CBTx upon graduation from SFA, where he has earned bachelor’s and masters degrees in business, as well as a banking degree from the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at SMU.
Cyr is an active volunteer in the community. He has worked with the Lions Club, the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement, the Ellen Trout Zoo Z&OO Railroad board, the Angelina County Rodeo, the Chamber Total Resource Campaign, the Crown Colony Homeowners Association, the Texas Forest Festival, the Texas Forest Country Partnership, the Cattle Barron’s committee, and Leadership Lufkin.
Brian and wife, Jennifer McCall, have four teenagers, Clay, Lauren, Mattie, and Whit, as well as two dogs and a cat. He enjoys golf and going to the beach.
