About Me
For Scott Bowyer, Banking Texas Style is about personal connections.
“The thing that I love the most about my job is interacting with people in every type of business, industry, and walk of life,” he said. “All in one day, I can be discussing house plans with a customer for their dream home, looking at cattle for an ag loan, providing working capital for a small retail business, and financing a new office for a doctor.”
Bowyer began his career at CBTx as a 19-year-old freshman at Stephen F. Austin State University.
“I worked in bookkeeping, I serviced ATM’s and was a teller during those early years.,” he said. “Upon graduation from college I became a credit analyst. I have served as a consumer lender, commercial lender, VP of retail banking, market president, and eventually Chief Lending Officer.”
Originally from Denton, Bowyer moved to Nacogdoches when he was four. He attended Nacogdoches High School, and then earned his degree in finance from SFA in 1998 and completed the ABA Graduate School of Banking in 2006. He is currently the Chairman of the Nacogdoches Economic Development Corporation (NEDCO), Treasurer of the Nacogdoches Industrial Development Authority, a former Board Member of Texas Bankers Association, former President of Nacogdoches Jaycees and Nacogdoches Youth Baseball Association, and a current Member of Nacogdoches Rotary Club and Nacogdoches Booster Club. Bowyer attends First United Methodist Church in Nacogdoches, where he serves on the Board of Stewards. He is married to Carolyn Bowyer, and together they are the proud parents of five children.
